Questions & Answers

Q: My phone paired, but the music starts and then stops. What’s wrong?
A: This is a known issue on some Android devices. Go to the Bluetooth settings screen, tap the gear/settings icon next to the paired device, and switch the audio type from “Phone Audio” to “Media Audio.” Then turn Bluetooth off and back on, and re-pair the device.

Q: How do I adjust bass, treble, balance, or fade?
A: Bass, treble, and left/right balance can be adjusted with an EQ app—many are available for free in the app store.
Front-to-rear fading is not supported via Bluetooth, as it transmits only stereo (left/right). However, Mark series devices are pre-configured to reduce the front channel volume by 10% for better balance.

Q: What is the Bluetooth range for the Mark 3? Can I mount it in the trunk?
A: The Bluetooth range is over 20 feet in open air. If your phone is in your pocket and the signal must pass through seats or a metal barrier, range may decrease. That said, many customers have successfully installed the device in the trunk or under the rear package tray.

Q: Do I need to pair the Mark unit every time I start the car?
A: No. Once paired, the device will automatically reconnect when powered on. Streaming audio will override the factory radio (if applicable).

Q: Can I use a microphone for hands-free calling?
A: Yes, but only with the Mark 4. It includes built-in hands-free calling support and comes with a remote-mount microphone on a 3-meter cable.

Q: The video says MK1 and MK2 work without a radio. Does the MK3?
A: Yes. All Mark series devices (MK1, MK2, and MK3) work without a radio. The video was made before the MK3 was released.

Q: I don’t have a smartphone. What’s an affordable way to control the device?
A: MP3 players with Bluetooth output are available for $60–$100. These work well with all Mark series devices.

Q: I have a 1949 Dodge with a positive ground 6V system. Any special setup?
A: No special setup is required. Just connect the red power wire to the chassis and the black ground wire to a switched ignition line.

Q: If I install a Mark 2, how does it interact with my stock radio?
A: Your stock radio will play until you begin streaming via the Mark 2. Once streaming, the Mark 2 takes over. To return to the stock radio, unpair your phone from the Mark 2.

Q: Does the device receive AM/FM radio?
A: No. It only plays content streamed via Bluetooth. You can use an MP3 player with built-in FM radio and Bluetooth output for radio access.

Q: Can I use an iPod Classic with the device, using an adapter?
A: Unfortunately, no. The device only supports Bluetooth input. Older iPod Classics without Bluetooth are not compatible unless upgraded.

Q: Can I use a headphone-to-RCA adapter from my iPod to connect to the Model 3?
A: No. The RCA inputs are intended for unamplified preamp signals from an existing radio—not headphone-level audio.

Q: What vehicles are compatible with Out of Sight Audio?
A: Our hidden audio systems work with nearly any make, model, or year of vehicle.
